Hi friends!
It is FINALLY warm enough to start opening up the windows, and I am so happy because all of the wonderful smells of Spring are coming in!
The past few weeks, I’ve been watching my neighbor’s magnolia tree bloom, drinking tea with sakura mochi, buying daisies to hang outdoors, and more tree watching. I’m a little obsessed with trees… give me a tree view and that’s all I need, haha. I just want to feel like I’m living in a treehouse.
My partner and I moved in January, so we had no idea what the foliage would be like in the neighborhood. It’s been a sweet surprise seeing a mix of crabapples, cherry blossoms, and eastern redbuds.
FOR THIS MONTH’S COMIC…
I decided to experiment with different colors instead of the usual shades of green. I also thought a lot about framing… something that I haven't thought as much about for the last few drawings.
I was inspired by the cinematography in Wes Anderson films.
FOR MY PATREON CAFE NOOK CLUB…
Last month, I drew a flower field postcard and a water buffalo sticker. I saw photos of Celosia Flower Farm in Sirao, Cebu, Philippines and was inspired by the scenery. The character is eating makopa which is also called java apple, wax apple, watery rose apple… there are a lot of different names!
THINGS TO LOOK FORWARD TO:
Restocking: Bird Watcher/Birder Enamel Pin and Cicada Patch
This month’s Patreon snail mail will include: Cherry Blossom Postcard and North American Porcupine Sticker
That’s all for now! I hope you all enjoy the rest of your week!
