May 2023

Current Read & Monthly Favorites:

Hi friends!

I hope you’re all having a lovely May! This past month has been both special and busy for me.

For the most part, I’ve been catching up with family that’s visiting from the Philippines. It’s been a long time since I’ve seen them and it’s been really nice to spend time together - we’ve been doing a lot of walking and sightseeing. (One highlight was taking a trip down to South Street Seaport and picking up a few books).

This month is also special to me for another reason… it actually marks another anniversary for my shop. I’m celebrating 7 years! As a thank you, if anyone is interested, please use the discount code “SHOPBDAY” to get 20% off any order. The discount code will be available until the end of this month.

While I don’t have any new items releasing in the shop in the near future, I have been working on a few pieces of art recently, and I’m really happy with how they turned out! It’s my second year participating in Nucleus Portland’s Salut 8! Coaster Art Show. Last year I was able to do three, but this time I managed to get a fourth done. This was a really nice treat since most of the time I’m working digitally and I don’t get to work with traditional mediums as often as I like.

After that, I drew out this month’s comic (for my Vermont zine). I’ve realized over the years that I’m a bit impressionable with food so I may have gotten a chocolate banana crepe right after drawing this comic.

Lastly, I finished drawing the sticker for this month’s snail mail for supporters over on Patreon. It’s a deer with daylilies. I’m actually so thrilled with how it came out that I’ve already started working on converting it into a future pin.

Last month’s snail mail for my Patreon Cafe Nook Club included a Cherry Blossom postcard and a North American Porcupine sticker.

That’s all for now, I hope you all enjoy the rest of your week!

Justine
